We had our SPOT device set to ping our location every 30 minutes.  This updated in real time so that friends and family could see our progress each day we were on the bike.

Galen and I rode the Washington Back Country Discovery Route in 2013.  We had such a wonderful time that we added the Utah Back Country Discover Route to our Bucket List of rides.

In July we attended our first BMW Rally.  It was the National Rally and in 2014 it was held in Minneapolis.  While there we had the opportunity to meet Chad and Sara from Adventure Designs.  Galen had spoken to Chad several times over the phone and it was fantastic to meet them in person.  Chad mentioned that if we ever found ourselves in California that he would love to show us some great roads in Northern California.

As we mapped out our trip to Utah Galen figured out the mileage if we were to continue on to California.  Since I had closed my gift shop and wasn’t working full time we decided to take all three weeks of Galen’s vacation and add California to our Utah Back Country Discovery Route trip.   Who knows the next time we both would be able to get away for that length of time so we just made it happen.  Here is the day by day review of the trip.  Enjoy!
