Day 8: Tropic, UT to Cedar City, UT

Saturday October 18th, 2014
Total Miles: 147

We enjoyed a quick continental breakfast, loaded up the bike and we headed back to Bryce Canyon.  We stopped in Bryce Canyon City to air up the tires.  Turns out we are going to be on blacktop most of the day.  Some gas stations you go to they have a crazy air hose.  This tire gauge from Adventure Designs is great for any hose and you can fill and check pressure with one gadget.

We rode all the way to the end of the road at Bryce and pulled off at the view points on the way back. It was beautiful but it is hard to top the views we experienced the last few days on the bike.

We stopped at Ruby Inn on our way out and gave our park passes to another young couple who was just arriving.  We stopped for lunch at The Pines.  Met a fun couple in the parking lot on a Harley who had a cabin just up the road.  We headed through Panquich.  We could see a storm a brewing.  As we came up out of town we actually saw tumbleweed in the air like a micro burst.

By the time we got to Lake Panquich the rain started coming down.  Here is a quick view of Cedar Breaks.

Hard to tell but it cold and raining at this point of our trip.

We made it to BrianHead Ski Area and the temp had dropped to 38 degrees and the rain was coming horizontal.  Cars had their 4 way flashers on and Galen was passing them trying to get off the Mountain.  Galen had skied BrianHead back in 1994.  He was surprised how much it had grown since the mid 90’s.

We got into Cedar City and decided to get a hotel and do some laundry while it continued to rain overnight.  We stopped at the State Liquor Store and then checked in at the Abby Inn.  It was recently renovated and we got a room for $80.  Rooms were nice, we did laundry, soaked in the hot tub and called it an early night.  The rooms had been renovated but the washer and dryers were pretty old school.  We ran everything through the washer and decided to line dry back in the room.  This is where it is nice to have para cord.  Notice the knife was used to hold up one end of the cord and a pen was used on the frame for the other end.  Galen rocking his Macgyver skills.

For the record the laundry photo had the most comments of all the photos we posted on Facebook this trip.
